The problem
Designing electronic components and systems can no longer
be successfully accomplished without considering associated
thermal aspects :
- continuous thermal flow increase in modern electronics
- focused with high power semiconductors (>100A) and associated
equipment
- meet cost reduction requirements (use components at the
maximum of their performances).
Thermal management is now an integral part of electronics,
but must not be a limiting factor technically or economically.
Thermal protection of Electronic Equipment requires a good
mastering of the following physical phenomena :
- Conduction.
- Natural or forced convection.
- Radiation.
- Phase conversion.
