Development is of the essence in an industrial-scale company.
It is the only way to stay in step with market needs and especially
to remain competitive. Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management has
known that for a long time and invests heavily on it.
A team of engineers trained
in heat science and mechanics works in close collaboration
with all Ferraz Shawmut's technical staff and customers.
Their efforts are concentrated on upstream development
of technology to take heat dissipation even further.
The development team enjoys the use of a thermal testing
lab with all the apparatus necessary to characterize products
thermally: water loop, recorders, clamping system, ventilation
system, air conditioning, heating units, etc.
Those test resources are at our customers' service and
are used during qualification tests in their presence. |
But we have more resources than just the thermal test lab.
Synergy between the activities of the Ferraz Shawmut group
(thermal and electrical protection) mean we can call on much
greater testing capabilities, in particular the electrical
test center and enclosures to do salt mist tests at Saint
Bonnet de Mure, just outside Lyons.
Mechanical workshops
Machining is one of Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management's core
skills and is at the very heart of our cold plate technology.
So Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management has a machining workshop
equipped with high speed digitally-controlled machining centers
as well as more traditional machinery.
That means we are highly reactive in terms of delivery times
and most importantly that we have full control over the innovative
designs of our water cooling circuits. Good machining is sine
qua non for good vacuum brazing!
In addition to that machining shop, Ferraz Shawmut Thermal
Management has an additional mechanical shop with a cutting
machine, fin press, bending and punching equipment.
There we produce specially designed fins for heat sinks or
exchangers, and do the capping on heat pipe systems.
Inspection: a vital
requirement
Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management spares no pains to ensure
your products are of the highest quality. At every stage in
manufacture they are inspected and verified by suitable means:
Rth series test bench in an air conditioned room, water and
air series load loss test bench, nitrogen and helium leakage
detection test bench, etc.
Those tests are vital to guarantee not only the reliability
of our products over time, but more importantly the safety
of your personnel working around them. A badly cooled component
can be a serious hazard, and may even explode.

of Ferraz Shawmut and of the Carbone Lorraine group.
