On request from many customers in industry, Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management has developed a low cost, standardized cold plate technology christened Calitube

Product presentation:

Calitube is a cold plate of high thermal efficiency, built by overmolding an aluminum block around a stainless steel tube.

The stainless steel tube is bent into several turns under the components, depending on the power to be dissipated and where the components are located. The stainless steel nozzles, whether threaded or fluted, are TIG welded to the stainless steel tube before the aluminum is overmolded, ensuring the system will be leaktight.

When the product is finally machined, the components to be cooled can be positioned to your specifications.

For impeccable finished product quality, the Calitube is made in a steel mold guaranteeing a flawless surface, an excellent mold joint, and production capacity of several thousand pieces.

A final surface treatment can also be done.

Advantages of overmolding around the cooling circuit:

Overmolding the aluminum around the stainless steel tube ensures excellent contact between the two metals, and therefore low contact resistance, enhancing thermal performance. This is not the case in competing technologies that involve drilling a hole in an aluminum block and inserting copper tubes, either press-finished or bonded. This results in poor contact resistances for thermal performance.

Advantages of the CALITUBE:

In an industrial environment, obviously not always very clean, the Calitube can accommodate all types of cooling fluids, since its 316 l stainless steel tube poses no corrosion problems in your installation over time.
