General presentation:

Tight control of vacuum brazing based on 15 years' experience make Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management a universally recognized expert in the field today.

And Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management offers you all its expertise in its Multical cold plate range, a product with high thermal performances to cool several electronic components screw-mounted on a single plate.

Active on all markets, especially the European traction market where the company is the leader, Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management develops innovative designs as customers request them and thus can always offer you the best match between thermal and hydraulic requirements.

Product presentation:

Multical is a cold plate designed for applications at very high power levels.
It combines two main technologies:
- vacuum brazing,
- machining.

Multical is an assembly of a plate and a backplate made of 1050A or 6060 aluminum, vacuum brazed at 680°C using a sheet of colaminated aluminum filler.

The cooling circuit is machined in the plate before vacuum brazing and is entirely a question of your application. It is designed and optimized to suit the power and position of the components to be cooled.

Aluminum or titanium hydro- connections can be vacuum brazed or screwed on, for a durable guarantee of leaktightness.

Advantages to vacuum brazing:

Vacuum brazing is the perfect means to assemble large, very rigid cold plates in a single solid piece.

Unlike competing options with joints, it guarantees very high internal pressure withstand - of the order of 20 bars. Finally, with vacuum brazing there is no risk of corrosion over time as no flux that would contaminate the brazing is used.
