Ferraz Shawmut Thermal Management recently created a prototyping department. The goal is to help develop business with customers who increasingly require us to be more reactive. Producing prototype parts demands different skills and resources from the normal production cycle.

The prototype team is a completely independent department within the production facility and has its own human and equipment resources.
At its head is a thermal engineer from the development department, working with a technician.
The team must have a close relationship with the development department to stay in control of processes, but also a high level of competence.

A prototype is a necessary and essential stage in business development, and must be both high quality and completed in a short period of time. Those are the two key factors in a successful business deal for our customers.
